About the event
This is a 15 hour hybrid online course. Approximately 10 hours total for online video and didactic content with an additional 5 hours of live mentored discussion/case work.
Various approaches such as pain education, manual therapy techniques and motor control have been researched and found to be effective in managing neuromusculoskeletal conditions. The challenge for most clinicians is understanding how to prioritize and integrate these approaches to optimize patient care outcomes. This combination of didactic coursework and clinical mentoring will integrate the use of clinical reasoning model into patient care to provide a framework for clinicians as they determine optimal interventions for their patients. This model will highlight the need to consider many variables when developing an integrated, patient-centered plan of care. Some of these variables include pain mechanisms, irritability and chronicity of symptoms and personal contextual factors such as beliefs and emotions about the patient’s condition.
Within this course, participants will learn to take a patient centered approach utilizing the International Classification of Function, Disability and Health while utilizing the most current clinical practice guidelines. Participants will be provided a framework to clinically reason through patient cases keeping the patient at the center of our care with their values and expectations.
